Race around the world in The World Game!

When I was a kid, I used to love geography. It was one of my favorite subjects in school as I enjoyed learning new facts about other countries or about our planet. Now, you can imagine how amazed I was when I heard that a geography-themed game is coming to Kickstarter!

The World Game is an educational geography-themed board game for 2 to 5 players that’s very interactive and easy to learn. Players race around the world, passing famous landmarks on their way and challenge each other with world flags knowledge or by finding locations on the map. They can also use action cards to get ahead or slow down other travelers. It sounds like a great choice for parents who want to play a game with their kids and teach them something at the same time!

The game’s objective is to be the first player to finish the race around the world and cross the finish line. You advance by winning with strong country facts or by answering geography challenges accurately. I’m curious how many facts I can get correctly!

There are 194 cards, one for each country, containing facts and challenges. Besides the countries deck, there’s an extra deck of cards, containing 26 action cards that you can use at different moments to mess with your opponents, save yourself or gain an advantage to win the game! Every turn, each player draws a card from the country cards pile. On your turn, you roll one dice and then you choose your action: call out a fact or a challenge.

You can pick a fact that you believe is the strongest one and try to beat the other players. Be careful, however! If you lose, someone else will move forward! If you choose to call out a challenge, then the player to your left will challenge you with recognizing the flag of a country, or to name its continent or capital city. Or maybe you’ll have to find a country on the map! If your answer is wrong, then the next player gets their chance at answering it. If no one manages to get the right answer, then the challenger moves forward!

The game is a more elaborate board game version of the card game with the same name. After the immense success of the card game as the best selling geography game on Amazon, the designers decided to create a board game version with more engaging actions and a race mechanic added.

The game is coming to Kickstarter on November 10th and I’m sure that it will be a successful campaign, nonetheless.
